DIY 4th of July Flag_Blog

Keep cool this 4th of July with our simple DIY Craft! The simple steps are below but if you'd like to see a short video of it instead, head on over to our YouTube channel. Supplies: - Glitter Poster Board - Metallic Poster Board - Star Stickers - Craft Stick - Holographic Duct Tape - Ruler - Silicon Glue - Scissors - Glue Tape Now that you've gathered all your supplies, you'll be ready to go with your patriotic fan in no time! Step 1: Take out a sheet of the silver and red glitter poster boards (We just adore these glitter sheets, so much so we always get distracted by all the pretty colors and all the sparkly things we can create with them!). Set aside the red for now and cut the silver sheet into a 5 inch by 7 inch size. Use a ruler for precise sizing so all the pieces fit nicely together at the end. Step 1_Blog Step 2: Use your scissors to cut the red glitter poster board into 6 - half in strips to make the stripes for the flag. Yes, we know, for all you perfectionists out there, there are 13 stripes on the flag; but, trust me, we had to scale it down so we wouldn't end up with a gigantic fan (yes, it drove one of our staff members crazy too). Step 2_Blog Step 3: Don't think we forgot about those gorgeous metallic poster boards! Take out a sheet of the blue poster board and cut it into a 2.25 inch by 3 inch size. Step 3_Blog Step 4: Glue the red strips, using our easy glue tape (it's so convenient! We seriously love the glue tape!) onto the silver sheet first, making sure they're all equal distant from each other. Nothing bugs a perfectionist more than crooked lines! Then, glue the blue piece onto the top left corner. Step 4_Blog Step 5: You're flag is looking great already! But we can't forget about those stars. Can't have a star spangled banner without the stars now. Tame that perfectionist side of you cause we had to scale this down too - from 50 stars stickers to 22. Step 5_Blog Step 6: Set that shining flag aside and let's create the handle. Yes, you could just affix the craft stick as is. Yes, you could get colored craft sticks instead. BUT, why have a monotone craft stick when you could have so much more with holographic duct tape?! It's as simple as cutting a piece of duct tape and wrapping the craft stick! Step 6_Blog Step 7: Now all we have to do is affix the newly decorated craft stick (look at all the colors! Now, aren't you glad you took that extra step to decorate it?) onto the back of the flag with some silicon glue and then... Step 7_Blog Step 8: You're all done with your patriotic fan. Wave it with pride! Step 8_Blog
